He makes a what would be generic breakdown into an addicting vocal part, even if the lyrics are sorta juvenile.ĭon't let the mother fucker catch you blind. The part with Brandan Schieppati from Bleeding Through is executed really well. It has a nice guitar solo near the end, and a breakdown that changes keys in the middle of it, which I thought was interesting. That song is thrashy, aggressive, and just plain good. The last song, Rust, however, is the highlight of the album.
They really just sound unappealing and dull over time, with the occasional good riff here and there. Despite this, the songs are at least solid in themselves, at least.
Sometimes the choruses of some songs even sound similar, and it can get sorta annoying even. As we go through the rest of the album, especially starting with "Answers," we get more dull riffs and breakdowns, with some heavier tri-tone breakdowns at times. Specifically those songs are pretty good. The next song, "Masses of A Dying Breed", follows in the vein of the previous song, and the chorus is pretty neat too. We start out with "Our Kings" which is pretty good song in itself a straightforward, fast melodeath/metalcore song with alright breakdowns. They do have that sort of whiny sound that metalcore clean vocalists are infamous for using. Also, the clean vocals aren't the greatest in the world. I know many people think this is true for all melodic metalcore bands, but to me, that isn't necessarily true. Not necessarily bad, but just kinda dull and lacking. Particularly though, this album, despite having good riffs and some good, crushing breakdowns, but a lot of the record comes off as dull to me. As for myself, I like some of these melodic metalcore records. If you're not into that, you're certainly not going to like this record. It's got melodeath riffs, some thrashy riffs, clean singing, metalcore screams (with the occasional high pitched scream), simple and juvenile lyrics, and breakdowns-a-plenty. I guess I might as well be the first reviewer of this band as well.įor the album itself - it's metalcore in the vein of As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage.

Just some common things I see in the genre.Little fun fact - I'm actually the one who decided to listen to this album and then ask the mods to review it, ultimately getting them back on here.
